Quantitatively, the inertia of a body is measured by its mass. The heavier a body, the greater is the force required to change its state and the greater is its inertia. The reverse is also true.

We know that it is easier to move a small and light object like a child toy car than a large and heavy trolley. Thus, a large and heavy trolley shows greater resistance to change its state of rest or of uniform motion than a small and lighter toy car. So, a heavier body has more inertia than a lighter body. Therefore, we can say that more the mass, more is the inertia and lesser is the mass, lesser is the inertia of a body. A trolley has much more inertia than a child's toy car and is much easier to set in motion than the trolley. Moreover, the toy car is much easier to stop than the trolley when both are moving with the same velocity. More precisely, we say that mass is a measure of the inertia of a body.
