Discuss the following questions based on drought. What will happen if rainfall is less this year than last year? What would happen if there is no rainfall for five years? What could be the possible reasons for water scarcity in a particular place? What problems can arise due to water scarcity in a particular place?

1) If rainfall is less this year than last year then the soil can dry out and plants can die, the flow of streams and rivers decline, water levels in lakes and reservoirs fall and the depth to water in wells increases. 2) If there is no rainfall for five years then the water bodies start to dry up, plants begin to die, trees shed their leaves, it causes water scarcity, then animals will die due to less oxygen and it also causes droughts and there will be no food to eat. 3) Reasons for water scarcity in a particular place due to insufficient availability of water resources, water shortages may be due to change in a climate like droughts or floods, and an increase in pollution rate and increased population that leads to overuse of water. 4) Water scarcity in a particular place leads to drought, it also reduces the level of the water table and leads to infertility of the soil and it also leads to some deficiency diseases, poverty and unemployment.
