The processes involved in the formation of mountains are:

Fold mountain: When the Earth's tectonic plates collide together, at the colliding boundaries, the layers of rocks uplifted by the horizontal compressional forces crush the top layer of sediments into arches and troughs. And the formation of fold mountains takes place.

Block mountains: These mountains are formed because of faulting on an extensive scale. The horizontal tensional forces cause cracks or faults in the crust of the earth, these faults can break the crust into blocks and when these blocks are raised block mountains are formed.

Volcanic mountains: These mountains are formed because of volcanic activity. When the hot magma erupts from the inside of the Earth through its crust, the magma accumulates around the vent of the volcano and generally forms a tall cone-shaped mountain known as the volcanic mountain.
