The following are the different types of habitat with special features-

Forests: There are three types, tropical rainforest, temperate and boreal forests. Tropical rain forests receive heavy rainfall throughout the year. Temperate forests have well-defined summer and winter seasons. Boreal forests are characterised by very low temperatures. Organisms like pine, maple, monkey, and fox are found in forests.

Grasslands: These regions are dominated by grasses. There are not too many trees and shrubs here. The giraffe and zebra are found in this region.

Deserts: These are areas that receive very little rainfall. So, this region has very high temperature. Organisms such as cactus, camel, and kangaroo rat are found in deserts.

Mountains and polar region: These regions are extremely cold. Animals such as polar bears and penguins are found in the polar region. Yak and snow leopard are found in the mountains. Algae, fungi, lichen survive in polar region. Pines, firs, spruces are found in mountain region.

Aquatic habitat: Freshwater, marine, and coastal regions are different types of aquatic habitat. A large variety of animals live in the marine habitat. Organisms such as fish, crab, seaweed, mangroves are found in aquatic habitat. Plants such as Chinese water chestnut, Indian lotus, water spinach, etc. are found.
