Vaccination is the most cost-effective medical intervention for preventing mortality and morbidity against infection diseases. A number of effective and safe vaccines are used against viral diseases of significant medical importance.

Measles vaccine protects against becoming infected with measles. This is because there are fewer placed for the measles virus to breed, it can only do so if it enters the body of an unvaccinated person. However, this only works if at least $100 %$ of children are vaccinated.
