Experimentally prove that CO 2 is necessary for photosynthesis?

Aim: CO2 is necessary for photosynthesis in the plants. Requirements: A well-watered variegated leaf plant, beaker, water, bunsen burner, mentholated spirit or rectified spirit or ethanol, iodine solution, a white porcelain tile. Theory: Photosynthesis is a physiological process of green plants which helps them to prepare their food or carbohydrates. Procedure: Take healthy potted plants To de-starch put the half leaf in the covered bottle. Now place each plant leaf on a glass containing potassium hydroxide. The setup is made airtight to prevent the entry of surrounding air into the jars. The plant leaf placed in the absence of carbon dioxide shows very little or no starch while the plant leaf in the air shows the presence of starch. Fig: showing starch test (blue-black colour) before photosynthesis Observation: The green coloured leave will turn blue-black showing that starch is being formed or photosynthesis is carried out. The leaf part doesn't turn blue-black, indicating that starch is not formed in or photosynthesis is not carried out. Result: CO 2 is necessary for photosynthesis in the plants.
