Urea formaldehyde resin - NH - CO - NH - CH 2 - n is a condensation polymer with three-dimensional network structure showing strong intermolecular force between the covalent bonds and is formed by the monomeric units urea NH 2 CONH 2 and formaldehyde HCHO . Due to its thermosetting properties it is commercially used to manufacture unbreakable cups, plastic crockery and laminated sheets.

Neoprene is synthetic rubber having weak intermolecular forces hence categorised in elastomers. Nylon- 6 is a fibre having dipole-dipole interactions and polyvinyl chloride is a thermoplastic whose intermolecular forces of attraction are in between those of elastomers and fibres.
