The foods that we consume from plants come from various parts of it. The different parts of the plant we consume include root, stem, leaf, flower, seeds (unripe), and ripen fruits.

Two food items having plants as their source are as follows:

Vegetables obtained from roots: Root vegetables grow under the soil and are roots of the plant which are consumed as vegetables. Beetroot, carrot, etc., are examples of vegetables obtained from roots.

Vegetables obtained from leaves: Plant leaves are eaten as a vegetable. Leaf vegetables mainly belong to herbs. Cabbage, lettuce, etc., are examples of vegetables obtained from leaves.
