The three types of nerves are sensory nerves, motor nerves, mixed nerves.

Sensory nerves carry messages from different parts of the body to the brain or spinal cord. It is from these signals the brain can understand what is being said or what is the function.

Motor nerves situated in the central nervous system which carry away the messages from the central nervous system to the muscles where the action has to be taken. It also transfers the messages to the skeletal system also for taking the actions.

Mixed nerves perform both actions of sensory and motor nerves. They carry messages from the brain and bring them back to the brain. It carries messages from different parts of the body to the brain or spinal cord. It carries away the messages from the central nervous system to the muscles where the action has to be taken.
