The overall structure formed by the Bowman's capsule and the glomerulus together is known as the Malpighian body or renal corpuscle that is the part of a nephron. The glomerulus is a network of blood capillaries named capillary tuft enclosed by a cup-like structure known as Bowman's capsule. The afferent arteriole entering the glomerulus will branch out into about 20-50 capillary tufts and later reunite to form an efferent arteriole that exits from the glomerulus. Bowman’s Capsule is lined with the endothelium and receives filtrate from the glomerulus. It comprises double layers named the parietal layer and the visceral membrane. Podocytes are the special cells present in the visceral membrane, with spaces in between them facilitating the filtration of glomerular filtrates.
