Haryana Legislative and Administrative Structure
Haryana was carved out of Punjab as the 17th Indian state on 1st November 1966. The State is bound by Punjab in the west, Uttar Pradesh in the east, Himachal Pradesh in the north and Rajasthan in the south. Chandigarh, the capital of Harayana, is shared by its neighbouring state of Punjab. Swiss-born French architect Le Corbusier designed Chandigarh.
Haryana Legislature: Haryana has 90 Vidhan Sabha (Legislative Assembly) seats. At the same time, Haryana has 10 Lok Sabha seats. In contrast, the state has five Rajya Sabha seats.
Haryana Administrative Structure: For administrative convenience, the state is divided into 22 districts, 72 sub-divisions, 93 revenue tehsils, 50 sub-tehsils, 140 community development blocks, 154 cities and towns, 7356 villages and 6212 villages panchayats.
