The human nervous system functions as follows:

The sensory neurons in our body's sense organs—the eyes, ears, tongue, nose, or skin—send electrical signals, also known as nerve impulses, to the brain when they are impacted.

The decision to be made is made by the brain once it has analysed this communication.

The relevant body part's muscles are subsequently given commands by the brain through motor neurons to do the required activity.
