The taiga is a type of biome, characterised by the vegetation composed of cone-bearing needle-leaved or scale-leaved evergreen trees consisting mostly of pines, spruces, and larches. Taiga forests are found in hilly areas, and in India, these forests have both conifers and broadleaf trees. The taiga forests are also called boreal forest or snow forests. It has the lowest annual average temperature after the tundra.

The organisms which can tolerate only a narrow range of salinity are called stenohaline. They are unable to withstand wide fluctuation in the salinity. Due to this property, many seawater animals can not live long in freshwater and vice versa. Some examples of stenohaline animals are shark, goldfish, etc.
