A concave mirror is used as a base in the microscope as a condenser. This helps the mirror to concentrate the light passed through it to make sure the surroundings of the object are dark. By this method, we can view the object/specimen clearly. Also, only concave mirrors are used by dentists.

A convex mirror is a spherical reflecting surface in which its bulging side faces the light source. There are numerous uses of convex mirror which is also referred to as a fish-eye mirror by automobile enthusiasts. Convex mirrors are widely used as rear ‐ view mirrors in automobiles and vehicles because it can diverge light beams and make virtual images.

An object is placed in front of a concave mirror. It is observed that a virtual image is formed. Draw the ray diagram to show the image formation and hence derive the mirror equation 1 f = 1 u + 1 v .
