London smog is also known as Industrial smog. It is a mixture of coal, smoke, and fog. The fog part mainly consists of ${SO}_{2}$ , ${SO}_{3}$ and humidity. It causes poor atmospheric visibility in the early morning hours and becomes worse after sunrise. This is because in the presence of sunlight sulphur dioxide gets oxidised into sulphur trioxide which combines with moisture to form sulphuric acid and aerosol. This type of smog causes bronchial irritation, poor atmospheric visibility, and acid rain whereas Los Angeles smog is known as photochemical smog. This type of smog is formed by a series of photochemical reactions involving the oxides of nitrogen, oxides of carbon, $H_{2} O$ , unburnt hydrocarbon particles, and sulphur dioxide.
