(i)-(c) Salivary glands secrete the saliva in the mouth. Saliva contains salivary amylase enzyme that helps in digestion of starch. (ii)-(d) The stomach is a J-shaped organ that secretes HCl acid, pepsinogen enzyme and mucous. HCl acid has a pH of 1.5-3.5. It kills bacteria and other microbes that may have entered the body. (iii)-(a) The liver is the largest gland in our body. It secretes the bile juice, which helps in emulsification of fats. The bile is stored in the gall bladder. (iv)-(b) The rectum is a part of the large intestine. It stores the undigested food, which is passed away from the anus as faeces. The faeces is accumulated until sufficient pressure builds up such that the receptors present in the wall of the rectum are triggered. The nerve impulses from the nervous system are transmitted to the anal canal, and the undigested is defecated. (v)-(e) The small intestine is a part of the alimentary canal which is 7.5 metres long. It is the site for complete digestion of food. The digestive juices released in small intestine breaks down the fats, proteins and carbohydrates. (vi)-(f) The large intestine is the part of the alimentary canal and is the site for absorption of water from the undigested food. Post absorption, the undigested food becomes semi-solid, which is stored in the rectum and excreted out through the anus. (vii)-(g) The anus is the opening where the alimentary canal ends. It starts from the bottom of the rectum. It helps in removal of undigested food substances from our body.
