The number of oscillations or vibrations produced in one second is called as frequency. The frequency is inversely proportional to the time period of the wave. The SI unit of frequency is hertz.

We know frequency is inversely proportional to time period. To draw a wave of higher frequency, we need to show a wave with a smaller time period i.e., smaller wavelength as shown in the figure below.

Frequency is defined as the number of vibrations produced by a source of sound per second. For example, the frequency of tuning fork is 256 hertz which means that tuning fork does 256 vibrations per second.
