The landmasses and water bodies are unevenly distributed on the earth's surface. A major part of the land area for the continents of Asia, Africa, Europe, and North America lies in the Northern Hemisphere. Some part of South America and Africa, whole of Australia, and Antarctica lies in Southern Hemisphere. Southern Hemisphere is majorly covered with ocean. They are Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, and Antarctic ocean. Northern Hemisphere has $60$ % of land and $40$ % of water. Whereas, the Southern Hemisphere has $81$ % of water and $19$ % of the land. Therefore, the Northern Hemisphere is known as the ‘Land Hemisphere’ and the Southern Hemisphere is known as the ‘Water hemisphere'.
