A cycle that includes transport, deposition and then burial of the weathered rocks and minerals is called a sedimentary cycle. It is the cycle of minerals found in the earth crust. Phosphorus cycle, sulphur cycle are examples of the sedimentary cycle.

Sedimentary cycles are the major reservoirs of nutrient elements in the lithosphere. The nutrient elements on Earth are locked up in rock and sedimentary deposits, from which it is released by processes like weathering, leaching, and mining.

The sedimentary cycle is comparatively slower than gaseous cycles and takes more time to complete. The nutrient elements may get locked in the reservoir pool during recycling for a longer period. Thus, nutrients need much longer time to come out of the earth crust and complete circulation. Therefore, sedimentary cycles are slower than gaseous cycles and are considered as a less perfect cycles.
