Given that, Let the body travel to point C which is perpendicular to AB and at 20 m . The total distance travelled is s = AB + BC = 15 + 20 = 35 m . For displacement, consider the figure below: The displacement is the shortest distance between A and C . According to Pythagoras theorem, Hypotenuse 2 = side 2 + side 2 AC = 15 2 + 20 2 = 225 + 400 = 625 = 25 m . Thus, the distance travelled is 35 m and displacement is 25 m .
