Different parts of the central nervous system of the cockroach are:

Supraoesophageal ganglia or Cerebral ganglia or brain: These are large paired ganglia located closely on the posterior part of the head region of the dorsal side of the oesophagus. From the supraoesophageal ganglia arise two circum-oesophageal connectives.

Suboesophageal ganglia: These ganglia are situated in the posterior part of the head below the oesophagus and are connected with two supraoesophageal ganglia. A pair of nerve cord arises at the posterior end of the suboesophageal ganglia.

Ventral nerve cord: The nervous system of the cockroach comprises a system of nerve and ganglia. The nerve cord is represented by two solid, mid-ventrally placed nerve cord. This connects three pairs of thoracic and six pairs of abdominal ganglia arising from sub-oesophageal ganglia extended up to the 6th abdominal. The lateral nerve arising from the nerve ring and different ganglia of the nerve cord, constitute the peripheral nervous system.
