Sexual reproduction occurs in flower. A typical flower contains four main parts: sepals, petals, stamens, and pistils.

Sepals: Sepals are thin green leaf-like structures present outside the flowers. They protect the inner soft parts of the flower.
Petals: Petals are the thin brightly coloured parts of a flower. They make the flower appear beautiful and attracts insects and animals to the flower.

Stamens: Stamens represent the male reproductive part of a plant. It contains anther and filament. The anthers contain a yellowish powdery substance called pollen grains. The male gametes, are present in the pollen grains.

Pistil: Pistil represents the female reproductive part of a plant. It is present in the centre of the flower.
A typical pistil is made up of three parts: a sticky head called the stigma, a thin style, and a swollen base called the ovary.
