Digestion: The food present in the food vacuole is acted upon by the digestive enzymes of the cell. Due to this, complex food is converted into simple, soluble materials. It is clear from these facts that digestion in Amoeba takes place inside the cell.

Absorption: The end products of digestion are picked up by the cytoplasm from the food vacuole. This food can easily diffuse out in all parts of the cell.
