Azad Hind Fauj or the Indian National Army was a revolutionary group formed during the Second World War to liberate India from the colonial clutches of the British.

It was given shape by Rash Behari Bose who fled to Japan due to the persecutions in British India and set up the Indian Independence League in Japan, to support the revolutionaries of South-East Asia.

With the efforts of stalwarts like General Mohan Singh and Subhash Chandra Bose, the prisoners of war (PoWs) were taken from Japan and inculcated in the INA.

Subhash Chandra Bose escaped to Germany from India in $1941$ to meet several German leaders in an attempt to mobilize forces against Britain.

From there he went to Singapore to lead the Indian Independence League and then to Japan to rebuild the INA, and make it a powerful fleet to defeat the colonial powers.

In $1943$ , Subhash Chandra Bose proclaimed the Provisional Government of Independent India in Singapore, and from there hoisted the flag of India in Andaman and Nicobar. Their actions gave much impetus to the Indian Freedom Movement.
